Announcing our all new website, changes to support and feedback and UniShare on Android (alpha)

Anyone who runs a company knows that there are quite some challenges to solve. One of them is to provide a web presence that is attractive to users and potential customers. On top, collecting feedback and provide support is another challenge.

Fresh paint for our website

We totally redesigned our website using a fresh and flat design and restructured the way you get access to information for our applications as we are moving more and more cross platform. Using a one stop menu that is available on all pages and uses a menu overlay similar to what mobile applications use, we are improving the navigation on our website.

Of course, all features are also available when you visit our site from you mobile device as we made it fully responsive. Take a look, and if you have feedback for us, just go to the support page where you can submit your feedback. The website is constantly evolving, so your feedback may help to improve it.

Changes to support and feedback

Support and feedback has always been important to us. Back in the days, UserVoice was the perfect partner for us, so we built our support and feedback mechanisms on their platform. Due to changes in the company strategy of UserVoice, they are heavily focusing on big enterprise customers, leaving out the small and medium businesses like we are. That’s why we sadly need to move things away from their platform. We already ported our knowledge base to our own website, and provide an easy to use feedback form on our support page.

But this is only the beginning. We haven’t decided about our final solution, because we want the solution to be easy and usable on all devices. For the moment, we keep things concentrated on our website, as it is responsive and works well on all platforms. We will also push out some updates to our apps where we remove the UserVoice part and replace it with a direct link our website (for the time being). No worries about the ideas you all submitted to our UserVoice, we are keeping them all in our To-Do-list.

UniShare made its way to Android

It took some time, but finally we are happy to announce that UniShare is now available on Android as an alpha build. An alpha build can be considered as a working prototype that may have some bugs, but works mostly. Because of this and because it does not have yet all features of the Windows 10 version, we are not making it generally available. If you want to help us to make the app better, feel free to download the app and use it (and also provide feedback).

Voices Admin goes Universal on Windows 8.1 with version 2.0

Toady we are happy to announce that Voices Admin is now a Universal app for both Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1.

We have completely rewritten Voices Admin from scratch to provide a consistent user experience across both platforms. Also, both apps share the same core, which leads to totally equal applications (with some modifications on the view side to match the differences).

Voices Admin v2 has all base features that the Windows Phone 8 version had, but provides also finally methods to delete and response to suggestions, modify tickets and also modify knowledgebase entries.

Currently, Voices Admin v2 has no live tile. We are currently looking into possible ways to integrate true push notifications for both tile and toast, provided by a Microsoft Azure backend and on possible ways to cover the costs for it. As soon as we found a prober solution, we will updated both apps with this functionality.

While we were working on Voices Admin v2, we also developed PortableUserVoice, a PCL library that allows developers to easily integrate UserVoice features like ticketing, suggestions and knowledgebase into their apps. In our experience from Windows Phone 8 on, this has in fact impact on the feedback rate as it goes up (we measured an interaction plus up to 30% for some of our apps). See this page for more information on the library.

As always, feedback is more the welcome. We hope you’ll love this new version of Voices Admin.

P. S. We have tested both apps on Windows 10, they should work on both PC/Table and Phone as they do on Windows 8.1.

Voices Admin is live in the Store

Voices Admin received a minor bug fixing update today.

Due to some layout changes on the UserVoice website, fresh installs of ourapp were not able to get the API clients. This update fixes that.

The second fix is for the ticket list. You may have noticed that some of the tickets were not shown correctly and only manually refreshing the list helped. This is now fixed.

We are looking into of our UserVoice library in the coming weeks. We are trying to not break things, but our goal is to make the library returning objects that you can work with directly.

We hope the latest update helps you to better hear the voices of your users.
