Announcing our all new website, changes to support and feedback and UniShare on Android (alpha)

Announcing our all new website, changes to support and feedback and UniShare on Android (alpha)

Anyone who runs a company knows that there are quite some challenges to solve. One of them is to provide a web presence that is attractive to users and potential customers. On top, collecting feedback and provide support is another challenge.

Fresh paint for our website

We totally redesigned our website using a fresh and flat design and restructured the way you get access to information for our applications as we are moving more and more cross platform. Using a one stop menu that is available on all pages and uses a menu overlay similar to what mobile applications use, we are improving the navigation on our website.

Of course, all features are also available when you visit our site from you mobile device as we made it fully responsive. Take a look, and if you have feedback for us, just go to the support page where you can submit your feedback. The website is constantly evolving, so your feedback may help to improve it.

Changes to support and feedback

Support and feedback has always been important to us. Back in the days, UserVoice was the perfect partner for us, so we built our support and feedback mechanisms on their platform. Due to changes in the company strategy of UserVoice, they are heavily focusing on big enterprise customers, leaving out the small and medium businesses like we are. That’s why we sadly need to move things away from their platform. We already ported our knowledge base to our own website, and provide an easy to use feedback form on our support page.

But this is only the beginning. We haven’t decided about our final solution, because we want the solution to be easy and usable on all devices. For the moment, we keep things concentrated on our website, as it is responsive and works well on all platforms. We will also push out some updates to our apps where we remove the UserVoice part and replace it with a direct link our website (for the time being). No worries about the ideas you all submitted to our UserVoice, we are keeping them all in our To-Do-list.

UniShare made its way to Android

It took some time, but finally we are happy to announce that UniShare is now available on Android as an alpha build. An alpha build can be considered as a working prototype that may have some bugs, but works mostly. Because of this and because it does not have yet all features of the Windows 10 version, we are not making it generally available. If you want to help us to make the app better, feel free to download the app and use it (and also provide feedback).

We just launched our first App on Android

Times are hard, especially if a company is relying on the Microsoft stack for developing applications. Microsoft has a clear vision for its “One Windows”-platform, but is struggling in the mobile space. That´s why we decided to go cross-platform in the second half of 2016.

After the launch of UniShare for the Universal Windows Platform, we got asked to develop the official Android- and iOS-Application for the German News-site WindowsUnited.de. With our plan in mind to expand our reach anyways, we agreed and started immediately with that project.

The app was already out there as a public beta. Today we are proud to announce the general availability of the official WindowsUnited app for Android on the Google Play Store. The app not only allows you to just read the news articles, but let’s you also interact with other users via the integrated comment system. The app integrates on a lot of edges with the operating system, be it for sharing, opening links or share articles from within the app. We also tried to follow the already available Windows App (which is developed by brothers agency (formerly known as cee)) as far as possible in terms of functionality. Here are some screen shots from the app:

What’s next?

We have several things on our to-do list, one of them is to bring WindowsUnited to iOS. Also, we already started to bring UniShare to Android, like you can see from these screen shots:

We are NOT cancelling our investment into the Windows platform, but we will keep expanding to the other mobile platforms as well. Stay tuned, we will keep you informed about the progress we make with our projects.

Saying ‘Goodbye 2016’ (and a small preview into 2017)

This year was again a turbulent one for us. We had a few ups and downs, but overall we enjoyed it. What happened this year at MSiccDev?

Bringing UniShare to the PC with the UWP version

Tutorial_07

This year, we finally did the next step and brought UniShare to the PC with launching our all new written UWP app. We had a great team of beta testers finding out a ton of bugs, helping to make UniShare a powerful and great app. Thanks to all of you again, without your help UniShare would not be as awesome as it is now. We kept improving UniShare and added some cool new features, including translations into more languages, a connection to our SimpleLeet Converter as well as a Translation feature into Klingon.

But we do not stop here. The current situation of Windows Mobile (formerly known as Windows Phone) is difficult. That’s why we had to move on and started development of UniShare for Android. Here is a sneak preview:

Releasing the official WindowsUnited.de app as public beta in the Google Play Store

Screenshot_20161231-104229[841]

Also this year, we published Windows United for Android, which is our first public Android application in the Google Play Store. WindowsUnited is a German Microsoft news page, and we are happy to develop their official apps for both Android and iOS. The Android application is a public beta, everyone can download it for free from the store. We target a final release in early 2017 and will also launch an iOS version in 2017.

We will continue to work on these two projects in 2017, and you will see also some new stuff from our side.

So, let’s say goodbye to 2016 and look ahead to 2017 by wishing you and your families a happy new year.

Announcing UniShare v1.2.1 with cool new features and tons of fixes

Screenshot (179)Today, we published UniShare version 1.2.1, which has a bunch of new extras and contains a ton of fixes.

Here is what is new:

  • UniShare is now available in more languages (German, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian)
  • we added a link to our translator registration page
  • adding a picture from camera/library or pasting from clipboard is now also available when using the Sharing menu of the operating system (because it opens the main app)
  • using our app SimpleLeet Universal, you can convert any update to Leet Speak from within UniShare (SimpleLeet Universal has to be installed and started at least once)
  • using the Microsoft Translator, you can translate your updates no to Klingon – qaStaHvIS batlh!
  • using Giphy, you can search the biggest gif library out there in the web and attach them to your updates as well

Here is what has been fixed:

  • the mention suggestion search for Facebook no longer needs upper case letters
  • Import/Export of Sharing Profiles is now fixed, no longer throws errors
  • better handling of situations without internet connection
  • fixed sharing to external apps (you can now share to all Email, Messaging and WhatsApp all at the same time)
  • a lot more bug fixes, listing them all would make this post way too long

Due to all those changes, you might have to go to the ‘unlock additional packages’ page again to update your license. If this does not happen automatically, just select your currently active license, a few seconds later the app has refreshed your license status and should work like expected. If this is not the case, please open a ticket on the ‘feedback and support’ page.

We hope you’ll enjoy the new features as much as we do. After our summer vacation, we will continue to improve UniShare (we actually have a long list of new features to come).

Have fun, everyone!

Announcing UniShare for the Universal Windows Platform (Windows 10) and launch sales

UniShare Banner
Today, we are happy to finally announce our all new universal app version of UniShare, expanding the sharing experience to the Desktop/Tablet and Continuum.

We worked hard to make sharing as easy as possible, and also added new features and networks.

Here is the feature list:

  • share easily across up to 10 networks (with more to come!)
  • supported networks in Basic version: Twitter (single account, LinkedIn, Facebook (personal account))
  • supported networks in Pro version: Twitter (up to 3 accounts, LinkedIn, Facebook (personal account plus pages you are admin/contributer), Tumblr, Pocket (saving links for later), Geeklist, Path, Slack (up to 5 teams), Reddit, vk.com
  • choose from a broad range of picture upload packages (from 5 pics for free up to unlimited)
  • create and use sharing profiles to easily target the right audience for your content
  • mentioning of users you are following on Twitter, your Facebook friends or team members on Slack
  • shorten links with Bit.ly, using your existing account to enable statistics
  • share pictures to networks that do not support direkt image upload like LinkedIn and Reddit, using imgur.com
  • our UserVoice is built in for faq, your suggestions and also support tickets
  • many more features to come with future updates, including translation to more languages

Sadly, we had to keep some of the features you all loved on Windows Phone 8.1 out in this version:

  • Cortana support will be back with one of the next updates
  • picture editor will also be back with one of the next updates
  • XMusicShare is not likely to come back – due to the fact we are not able to get the current playing song on Windows 10. If this ever changes, we’ll add it back in, promised!

We have big plans with UniShare. In fact, our ‘features we want to build in’ list is as long as the list of what we have already built in the current version. Some of them are advanced features that require additional resources, that’s why we had to change our pricing model. We are introducing Pro subscriptions for 1, 3, 6 or 12 month with Windows 10.

To give you all a chance to explore the new universal app, we are running a special launch sales until the end of June on the Pro licenses:

  • 1 Month Pro for free!
  • 3 Month Pro for the price of 1
  • 6 Month Pro for the price of 3
  • 1 Year Pro for the price of 6

In the same timespan, we will also randomly post codes for 1 Year-Pro subscriptions on Twitter or on Facebook, make sure you are following us to not miss your chance to snag one for free!

On top of the Pro licenses, we have also added some picture upload packages, in case you do not want/need a Pro license:

  • Free monthly Picture Package (contains 5 picture uploads)
  • Picture Upload Package S (contains 10 picture uploads)
  • Picture Upload Package M (contains 25 picture uploads)
  • Picture Upload Package unlimited (unlock picture upload forever)

We hope you all will enjoy the new version of UniShare across your Windows devices and look forward to your reviews in the store. If you have ideas on how to improve the app, feel free to use the built in UserVoice functionality (it is hidden in the three dot menu).

Get it on Windows 10

If the Store tells you that ‘something happened on our end’, please be patient. Microsoft told us that it will get fixed all alone within the next few hours (and we’re monitoring it as well).

Are your writing for a news page and plan to write about the new version? Get in contact with us, we may provide some codes for Pro licenses that you can provide to your readers.

Simple Leet Universal, our first app built for Windows 10

promouniversalappWhile we are working on UniShare for Windows 10 and are close for another update on our  beta, we have also found the need of testing some of the new features that Microsoft provides with Windows 10. Simple Leet is the result of our test, and we liked it so much that we decided to publish it as one of our public apps.

Simple Leet Universal easily converts text into leet speak.  It supports five levels of conversion and allows you to copy the converted text to your clipboard for pasting in anywhere else or use the Windows share mechanism to spread the converted text.

What is really cool about this app is – other developers can easily call the converter mechanism from within their apps. We integrated a so called ApplicationService, that provides that functionality. All other developers need to do is to integrate this package in their app to provide this functionality in their app.

We’ll continue to improve this app as well over time, the next big feature will be to let you customize how each letter gets converted.

Get it on Windows 10

Opening the UniShare Beta for Windows 10 to more users

UniShare_new_blue

Today, we are opening the UniShare Windows 10 beta to more users. UniShare is now a true universal app, that runs on both your PC/tablet and your phone. On Top, UniShare already supports Continuum!

Here is what you get with UniShare on Windows 10:

  • share your social updates to up to 10 networks
  • new networks: Slack and Reddit
  • images can now be shared across all networks, thanks to the use of Imgur
  • the url shortener of our choice is Bitly – and you can now use your own account to shorten links (we use your standard settings)
  • mention your friends is now also availabe for Facebook and the newly added Slack teams support mentioning as well

What’s missing:

  • Due to the fact that we are no longer able to detect the song you’re playing, the music share feature is currently not available. We are evaluationg ways to replace this function
  • the image editor – due to the new platform of Windows 10, we need to completely rewrite the image editor
  • Cortana integreation (we’ll bring it back, promised!)
  • on Windows 10 mobile, UniShare currently only supports portrait orientation

If you want to help and improve the next evolution of UniShare, you are only a step away. Just hit this link http://bit.ly/unishare10beta and register for our beta.

We are using Slack for all questions and feedback on the beta. That’s why you will receive two emails after registration – one with the link to the beta, and the invitation to our Slack team.

Please note that we limit the number of new registrations (once the limit is reached we will take down the registration page). All beta testers that provide valuable feedback will be rewarded once the application becomes generally available.

We’re looking forward to chat with our new testers on Slack.

Voices Admin goes Universal on Windows 8.1 with version 2.0

screenshot_07052015_075602

Toady we are happy to announce that Voices Admin is now a Universal app for both Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1.

We have completely rewritten Voices Admin from scratch to provide a consistent user experience across both platforms. Also, both apps share the same core, which leads to totally equal applications (with some modifications on the view side to match the differences).

Voices Admin v2 has all base features that the Windows Phone 8 version had, but provides also finally methods to delete and response to suggestions, modify tickets and also modify knowledgebase entries.

Currently, Voices Admin v2 has no live tile. We are currently looking into possible ways to integrate true push notifications for both tile and toast, provided by a Microsoft Azure backend and on possible ways to cover the costs for it. As soon as we found a prober solution, we will updated both apps with this functionality.

While we were working on Voices Admin v2, we also developed PortableUserVoice, a PCL library that allows developers to easily integrate UserVoice features like ticketing, suggestions and knowledgebase into their apps. In our experience from Windows Phone 8 on, this has in fact impact on the feedback rate as it goes up (we measured an interaction plus up to 30% for some of our apps). See this page for more information on the library.

As always, feedback is more the welcome. We hope you’ll love this new version of Voices Admin.

P. S. We have tested both apps on Windows 10, they should work on both PC/Table and Phone as they do on Windows 8.1.

A quick update on what we are working…

A quick update on what we are working…

Hi everybody,

it may seem for you all that we are a bit quiet in the last months. Behind the scenes we are working hard to keep our products fresh.

Currently we are updating our UserVoice library as well as the administration app, Voices Admin. We are bringing the app to your Windows 8.1 tablet and PC as well.

The next big thing we will do is to provide a universal app for UniShare, which will come as a truly Universal app to Windows 10. We have also some cool new features that we will add (soon more info on that).

On top, we are looking to make all of our apps working with Windows 10 (no matter if phone or tablet/PC).

So no worries, we are still busy to provide you high quality apps in future.

Merry Christmas to all of our users (and result of our UniShare xmas challenge)

merry-christmas-everyoneChristmas is around the corner, some of us are still searching the last gifts, and the preparations for christmas are close to be finished. And so is our UniShare christmas challenge.

image

Like you can see, we missed the goal of our UniShare christmas challenge by more than 1,500 downloads. This makes us very sad, as we would have loved to make you our ‘unlock all packages’ package for free for this christmas. But you’ll all receive a gift, anyways. We just made the ‘image upload package’ free for all, like we promised (please give the Store some time!).

Nonetheless, we are still  enthusiastic about reaching the 20,000 milestone. This is why we are continuing our challenge until the end of the year. If we will reach our goal of 20,000 milestones by 12/31/2014, we will make the ‘unlock all packages’ package free for 48 hours in the new year.

We wish all users of our apps  a Merry Christmas and may your wishes come true.
